Nokia E5 to Replace Nokia E72? Is the Nokia E5 about to replace the Nokia E72 in our affections? After all, both are QWERTY messenger smartphones with a 2.4-inch non-touchscreen and both run Symbian S60 3rd Edition. What’s more, when you see the Nokia E5 and Nokia E72 side-by-side you can clearly see how they differ. Read on to find out why the Nokia E5 may well be replacing the Nokia E72 in our affections.

The Nokia E5 is a great looking smartphone with a 2.4-inch screen and may well be about to replace the Nokia E72 in our affectations as the go-to QWERTY messaging device.

The sleek new design adds an even smoother keyboard while the battery life of the Nokia E5 – up to 25 days in standby – is bound to impress anyone who needs a killer battery life. What’s more, with its large QWERTY keyboard and stunning screen, 3G/HSDPA for fast browsing and built-in Wi-Fi for home and office use, the Nokia E5 packs a mighty connectivity punch.

Now, we’ve not had our hands on this device yet but the guys over at Fonearena have been lucky enough to spend a little hands-on time with the Nokia E5 (check out the site for more hands-on pics) and even snapped it side-by-side with the Nokia E72.

As you can see, the Nokia E5 has a striking similarity to the Nokia E72 but it’s worth pointing out that it will be almost half the price (around £160 at latest estimates), so you can see the Nokia E72 has a seriously tougher finish to it.

The Nokia E5 has a larger Spacebar, which means typing out messages will be easier and the whole keypad looks a little more spacious but that may well be a trick of the white keys as opposed to the brooding black keys on the Nokia E72.

There is no news on when the Nokia E5 will start to ship here in the UK, other than it’s expected in the second half of the year. So, what do you think, is the Nokia E5 enough to sway you away from the Nokia E72 or will you be staying with the world’s favourite messenger for a little while longer yet? Let us know your thoughts in the Comments below.
