Sprint HTC 10 Android Nougat update is rolling out now

Today is a good day for US carriers to issue updates to Android 7.0 Nougat for various smartphones they sell, it seems. Earlier we told you about AT&T’s LG G5 finally being graced with the tasty treat, and now it’s time for Sprint’s HTC 10 units to benefit from the same treatment.

The Now Network has started rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat for the HTC 10, as build 2.42.651.6. It’s going out over-the-air, but it’s a 1.3GB download, so you should grab it via Wi-Fi. Aside from the OS version upgrade, the changelog only mentions “system enhancements” as being packed inside the new…

Week 7 in review: Glass back and OLED iPhone 8 and more Galaxy S8 rumors

MWC 2017 is shaping up to be an exciting event. LG has the G6 to unveil and after its rebirth, Nokia will apparently hit hard with at least 3 headsets. If HMD plays its cards right and hits the nostalgia note properly, the alleged re-imagining of the legendary Nokia 3310 could very well steal the show on pure coolness points alone.

Sony has also been keeping busy lately. Rumors and leaks now hint at new Xperia XA and XZ devices, with a third model, also potentially on the horizon. Huawei may have a few surprises lined up for the show as well, like the P10 Plus.

Google Home and Amazon Echo might support voice calls soon

The Google Assistant inside the Google Home device and Alexa from Amazon’s Echo line of smart speakers may soon be able to make and take phone calls for you. This information comes from a new report allegedly originating with “people familiar with the matter”.

They say that by the end of this year, both Google’s and Amazon’s speakers could have support for voice calls. So you’ll be able to say “call Mark” and that would happen. It’s conceivable that the speakers will also ring when someone calls, but it’s unclear if that functionality will actually be baked in too.

T-Mobile responds to Verizon’s unlimited plans by one-upping their costs

T-Mobile wouldn’t be the carrier it is today without its outspoken CEO, John Legere. It only took a day for T-Mobile to come up with a way to one-up Verizon’s first unlimited plans that the company has offered since it stopped offering unlimited plans several years ago. You can check out Verizon’s new plans and trade-in-deals here.

Verizon’s new plans actually one-upped T-Mobile’s ONE plan by offering HD video streaming (which T-Mobile capped at 480p) and 10GB of included tethering with the new plans (which T-Mobile limited to 3G speeds). If you wanted any of these features, you had to pay…

Weekly poll results: Nougat turns out more popular than expected

You are the 1%. Seriously, 70% of voters in our recent poll either already have Android 7.0 Nougat or are within weeks of getting it. That’s way above average.

Only 10% have installed a custom ROM to get it too. That’s fewer people than those who have accepted their fate and use a pre-7.0 version of Android, 14%.

It’s interesting to note that some people complained about the new software. Google and phone makers did move things around, which can be annoying if you were used to how things were on Marshmallow.

Then there were a few smug iOS users, secure in their update future, and…

Leaked logo confirms Samsung will use the name “Galaxy S8+”

Today, Evan Blass tweeted an image of leaked branding for what could be the official logo, font, and colors of the Galaxy S8+. This, in turn, also sort of confirms that the “Plus” name of a larger Galaxy S8 will be indicated with a “+” sign rather than “Plus” like the iPhone does.

Why wouldn’t it? After all, this is exactly how the Galaxy S6 edge+ was named. Calling it a “Galaxy S8 edge+” would also be redundant, as we are expecting both Galaxy S8 models to be dual-curved.

LG Watch Sport for AT&T shows up in leaked document

There is less than a day before Google is set to announce a couple of new wearable devices alongside the release of Android Wear 2.0 and the cat is already out of the bag as to the specific carrier that will support the LG Watch Sport on their LTE networks.

A leaked document obtained by PhoneArena from AT&T shows a diagram of the LG Watch Sport’s display setup for showcasing the new wearable in retail stores. This obviously means that AT&T stores will be carrying the new Watches very soon and could be selling them as early as this weekend. Just keep in mind, there is still no exact…
