Sony Ericsson X10 in stock and shipping

Finally. After nearly a year of waiting the X10 has arrived. After only a few moments of playing with the device it’s apparent that the extra time SE has spent customising the device has been well spent.

Others may complain that the OS version is now outdated or that the processor is a bit sluggish, but it’s got a great form factor, nicely sized large and clear screen and the 8MP camera is head and shoulders the best on an android device. While the X10 is larger than the iPhone and Nexus One it fits snuggly in the hand and actually fells better balanced than the other two.

Timescape and Mediascape are great OS customisations and offer the power and flexibility of Android in a unique and attractive skin that sets the phone apart from the multitude of Android siblings currently hitting the market.

We’ve got good supplies of both black and white and the price has just dropped so order yours today and see the difference for yourself.. Buy the X10 now.

Nexus Two: New Blackberry threat?

The Nexus One hasn’t been out that long, but there’s already talk about the development of the Nexus Two. Some believe that the release of the Nexus One, they may have another contender of an iPhone killer on their hands, however the iPhone is still is as popular as ever with both consumer and business users.

There are however, a significant amount of business users who find the iPhone unfriendly when it comes to business applications. Amongst enterprise business users, Blackberry has been the more reliable choice.

Rumors of the Nexus Two’s design will be designed with enterprise users in mind, according to Andy Rubin, VP of Engineering at Google. It might also be designed with a physical keyboard because those who use Blackberry have found that having a physical QWERTY keyboard makes sending emails and editing documents easier and faster. Developers will have to weigh that option because many find that having a touchscreen is visually more appealing that a keyboard.

Google will also have to develop a secure system when it comes to transmitting data. Since Android is an open market, they’ll have to make the operating system secure and compatible for those who use Microsoft Exchange, something that Research in Motion has done very well at.

Android Market Growing Rapidly

Smartphone users love their apps and with the growing popularity of Android devices, the market place is growing at a rapid rate. Currently, Android Market has over 30,000 apps available to their users, which has grown from 16,000.

This has significantly increased over the past few months, many thanks to the successful launch of the Droid by Motorola (Milestone) and the Nexus One. The 30,000 apps represent both free and paid apps.

Android Market is growing, but it’s still far from Apple’s market, which has approximately 140,000 apps available. It’s somewhat an unfair comparison, since the iPhone has been out for much longer than any Android device. Given the successful growth of Android, it won’t take long for the Android market to reach these numbers.

Research2guidance, a research agency, recently reported that the app market business would bring in approximately $15 billion by the year 2013.

Android gaining on Apple iPhone

Over the past few months, Android has increased market share in the U.S. market from 2.8% to 7.1% (a 154% increase), according to industry research firm comScore. Apple iPhone marketshare grew from 24.8% to 25.1%.

Apple obviously still has a significant portion of the market, but if this rate were continue, it won’t be long until Android will even out the playing field. Research in Motion also had an increase.

So who should worry? Microsoft and Palm. Both had a decrease in subscribers and are dropping fast.
Global usage should come out soon, but Apple still has a large portion of the market share. With the global launches of the Nexus One and the Milestone, Android should also increase their share worldwide.

New webOS for GSM Palm devices?

The Palm Pre and Palm Pixis are expected to be launched on a GSM network soon and will probably be very similar to their CDMA counterparts. According to the Wall Street Journal in America, Palm is currently developing another device that will run webOS.

There was a lot of hype when Palm first launched webOS, but soon after launch it left users wanting more. Some people want more fluidity between transitions and a faster processor would probably help with that. It will be interesting to see what Palm will do to try to stay competitive amongst the more popular iPhone and Android devices and finally launch a GSM version for us non-CDMA users!
